Intro:
Chris Benoit was born on May 21, 1967, in Montreal. He was trained by Stu Hart in the infamous Hart Family Dungeon. He grew up idolizing the Dynamite Kid and based his ring style off of Dynamite's. He made his debut in 1995 wrestling in the Canada based Stampede Wrestling promotion. In real life, he is married to Woman. She was a valet in ECW and WCW.

WCW. Japan, WCW, & ECW:
Benoit gained famed in Japan where he wrestled as Pegasus Kid and Wild Pegasus. He parlayed this fame into a brief stint in WCW in the early '90s. In 1994, he became a regular in ECW. He gained the nickname the "Canadian Crippler" when he broke Sabu's neck in a move gone terribly wrong. He quickly became a top star in ECW and WCW resigned him in 1996.

WCW - The Four Horsemen & Kevin Sullivan:
In a case of art imitating life, Kevin Sullivan's wife Woman left him and went to Benoit's side. Benoit then became a member of the Four Horsemen. In 2000, Benoit became the WCW World Champion. However, he left WCW the day after winning the title because he didn't like the direction the company was headed in and felt that he couldn't trust the new head booker, Kevin Sullivan, with his career due to their history.

The Radicalz:
Benoit left WCW with Eddie Guerrero , Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn. They formed a group called the Radicalz. Benoit found success quickly in the WWF and would main event a PPV with the Rock less than six months later. His main event match against Steve Austin and Chris Jericho at King of the Ring 2001 would be his final match for almost a year due to a neck condition he needed to have surgery on.

Brand Jumping:
When he returned to the ring in March 2002, he was property of RAW. A few months later, he jumped over to SmackDown! where he stayed until winning the 2004 Royal Rumble. After winning the Rumble, he took his guaranteed WrestleMania title shot to RAW. At WrestleMania XX , Chris Benoit left the building as the World Heavyweight Champion.

Champion & Beyond:
While champion, he also won the tag team titles with Ede . He had to defend both titles on some nights. He would lose the World Title a few months later to Randy Orton at SummerSlam . Since then, Chris was drafted to SmackDown where he quickly became the U.S. Champion. After taking a sabbatical of several months, Chris regained the U.S. Championship within a week of his return.
